Meet Pastor David C. Burkley

A down-to-earth leader with a heart for God and people

A native of Houston, Pastor David C. Burkley is known for his down-to-earth teaching style and extraordinary gift for bringing Scripture to life. A graduate of the University of Houston with a degree in Political Science, Pastor Burkley’s ministry began in 2005 when he answered God’s call while serving as an usher at Higher Dimension Church.

Over the years, he faithfully led in youth, college, and young-adult ministries—helping countless believers discover purpose and identity through the Word. In 2010, Pastor Burkley launched Fellowship of Faith Church—“The Ship”—with the vision of Modern Ministry, Classic Church: a place where timeless biblical truth meets authentic, everyday life.

A Life Anchored in Faith, Hope, and Love

From the pulpit to the people — living the message he preaches

Committed to serving beyond the pulpit, Pastor Burkley founded the Matthew 25 Project, a monthly outreach that has provided thousands of meals and prayer to unhoused Houstonians. A father, mentor, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu purple belt, Pastor Burkley brings the same discipline and humility from the mat to the ministry.

As a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Pastor Burkley’s mission is simple: to lead people into a deeper relationship with Christ, love the community he serves, and keep The Ship anchored in faith, hope, and love.
